The Client
McGraw-Hill Education is a digital learning company that provides educational content, software, and services for pre-K through postgraduate education. The company also provides reference and trade publications for the medical, business, and engineering professions.
The Scope
McGraw-Hill Education hired Azoft to develop a web portal for teaching students of psychology courses in an entertaining way to simulate social surveys.
The Solution
Using the web-based virtual lab, students dive into a virtual psych laboratory where they can try themselves as researchers and become more interested in the profession. As input for the project, our client provided us with high-level specifications and the web application UI design. Our task was to clarify necessary details and implement the portal according to the requirements.
The operating principle of the app
Students select a lab, study its research question, select a hypothesis, build a survey, define the virtual focus group by age, gender, income level, and other parameters, carry out the virtual survey. In the end, they can compare the hypothesis against achieved results that is a set of answers built in the system in advance.
Survey results are visualized with nice colorful charts and can be exported into CSV and PDF files for further processing.
Technologies
HTML5, JavaScript/AJAX, HighCharts JS, iPad
The Outcome
Virtual Psych Lab is successfully applied in psychological training programs of the McGraw-Hill Education company.
