Connected Car App for In-Vehicle Infotainment System

The Client

The software company operating in the USA specializes in delivering innovative solutions to create an ideally-connected car experience. Their solutions bridge the gap between users’ smartphones and their car’s infotainment system. We started our collaboration by creating new UI for the mobile app based on the platform that provides various additional features to in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems.

The Scope

The client company wanted to create a user-friendly interface for their media player mobile app. The app allows users to project music service from their smartphones onto the car’s display screen, see a list of artists, albums, songs, genres, playlists, and also search music content. It was necessary to take into account that the application can be running on any iOS or Android smartphone. Another important requirement was that the new UI design should support the app’s high performance.

The Solution

We developed a new user interface for a cross-platform mobile app, aimed to connect a media player with a car infotainment system.

One of the project goals was to follow design mockups in a pixel-perfect fashion that makes the app as user-friendly as possible. As a result, the app has a nice and simple design. At the same time, it allows tech-savvy consumers to find advanced app features to spend less time learning how to use a new platform.

The Challenge

The new design required applying new technologies. While working on the project, we faced a problem of outdated API. We discussed the issue with the client and agreed that they will renew the API while we continue working on the app. It didn’t concern the project costs, but it influenced the pace of work. However, we successfully finished the work within the estimated period. Thus, it was challenging, but interesting to fix the environment settings.

The Outcome

The updated interface of the media player was successfully created just in time and within the planned budget. Customers of the client company have appreciated the merits of our new design. All features of the app are convenient and enhance the user experience. In particular, when choosing a song, the app opens up a media player screen with access to a specific playlist that a user prefers in the app.
